You Speak To Me
Original Post Date: January 29, 2023. This one’s got a strange rhyme scheme!
The moon told me that she loved you,
Today, as well as in days long gone.
For that is why she illuminates your face,
In the miserable quietude of the night.
The sun said to me that he adores you,
From the quiet dusk until its dawn.
For that is why he cries when you awake,
Tears bleeding into a sorrowful sky.
The trees whisper to me, they worship you,
In gales of wind and sobering autumn.
For that is why they abandon their leaves,
With each moment that you leave them jilted.
The roses confide in me, they fear you,
Their army of thorns render me numb.
For invariably, they are stolen away by thieves,
Their beauty faded, having long since wilted.
Death once came for me, how he despised you!
My life, like dust, drifts away from his palm.
For he knows that, though this world is at an end,
My soul will follow yours for as long as it lasts.
And you, my broken, beloved you,
My crown of thorns, the storm in my calm,
Drown me in your incompletion, the whole that I cannot mend,
My kingdom for your love, though both have since passed.
